Economic and Social Research

Economic and social research for policy, programmes, and investment decisions in Uganda — design and sampling, disciplined fieldwork, analysis, and reports that boards, ministries, and donors can interrogate.

Evidence with a method a steering committee can follow.

Ministries, NGOs, and private clients commission research when a programme or investment needs evidence, not slogans. Kisaka & Company designs studies, manages fieldwork, and writes reports that separate method from finding — so a Kampala steering committee or a donor review can see how the numbers were produced.

We work from your terms of reference: questions, geography, and the decision the report must inform. Ethics, consent, and data handling are scoped up front. We do not invent datasets, named evaluations, or awards. Programme-cycle support sits on our project planning and management page.

At a glance

What you can expect when Kisaka & Company is appointed to design or deliver a study.

Method first

Questions, population, and sampling are written down before tools go to the field. Limitations are stated in the report, not hidden in an annex no one reads.

Field discipline

Enumerators, consent, and quality checks are supervised. We treat respondent data as confidential and align handling with the brief you give us, including donor clauses where they apply.

Decision-ready reporting

Findings are written for the people who must act: boards, ministries, and funders. Tables and narrative stay reconcilable so an ICPAU-trained reader can test the path from data to claim.

Research services

Illustrative scope — the exact services available depend on your questions, geography, and the ethics or donor rules in the terms of reference. We confirm deliverables in an engagement letter before work begins.

Design & sampling

Study questions, indicators, sample frames, and tools — household, facility, or key-informant — written so a technical committee in Uganda can approve the design before fieldwork starts.

Fieldwork

Training, deployment, and supervision of data collection, including quality checks and a field log. Geography and access constraints are agreed in the plan, not discovered at the close-out meeting.

Analysis

Cleaning, tabulation, and interpretation against the agreed questions. We state confidence limits and gaps rather than stretching a small sample into a national claim.

Discuss scope

Policy / programme reports

Inception, draft, and final reports plus a briefing note for decision-makers. Annexes hold the method and tools so a donor or ministry reviewer can reconstruct the work.

How we run the engagement

A predictable research cycle so the client sees design, field progress, and draft findings before the final report.

01

Scope & design

We translate the terms of reference into questions, a sample, tools, and an ethics and data-handling note, then seek client sign-off before any fieldwork is booked.

02

Collect in the field

We train and supervise the field team, run quality checks, and report progress and access issues while there is still time to adjust the plan.

03

Analyse the evidence

We clean and analyse the data against the agreed questions, document limitations, and prepare tables a technical reader can reconcile to the raw file.

04

Report & brief

We issue the draft and final report, walk decision-makers through findings, and archive the agreed pack under the confidentiality terms in the engagement letter.
