Accounting and Bookkeeping

Day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end close, and management accounts so boards, donors, and the Uganda Revenue Authority can rely on the same set of books.

Books that close on time — ready for tax, donors, and a statutory audit when one is due.

Kisaka & Company takes on the ledger work finance teams in Kampala and across Uganda often cannot staff every month: journals, bank and control-account reconciliations, a documented close, and a pack management can read. Records are kept so they support URA filings and, when required, an audit under ICPAU standards.

If the same firm is later asked to audit the entity, we confirm independence first. Preparing the books we would then have to opine on creates a self-review threat. We decline or ring-fence bookkeeping rather than blur that line. Scope, access, and who approves journals are written into the engagement letter.

At a glance

What you can expect when Kisaka & Company keeps or reviews your books.

Close discipline

A repeatable month-end: cut-off, reconciliations, and a trail from source document to ledger so the next return or audit does not start from a scramble.

Reporting-ready packs

Management accounts and payroll records that boards, donors, and tax filings can share — not three versions of the same month.

Independence if we later audit

Bookkeeping for an audit client is a non-assurance service under the IESBA Code as adopted by ICPAU. We will not take management decisions or prepare numbers we expect to audit.

Accounting and bookkeeping services

Illustrative scope — the exact services available depend on your systems, reporting calendar, and independence rules. We confirm deliverables in an engagement letter before work begins.

Bookkeeping & close

Daily and monthly posting, bank and control-account reconciliations, and a documented close so ledgers are complete before VAT, PAYE, or donor reports are drawn from them.

Management accounts

Period packs for management and the board: income and expenditure, balance-sheet movement, and notes on judgements — in a form that can later support IFRS or IFRS for SMEs statutory accounts.

Payroll records

Gross-to-net workings, statutory deduction schedules, and a payroll file that PAYE, NSSF, and Local Service Tax returns can be tied to. We do not take hiring or pay decisions for you.

Systems hygiene

Chart-of-accounts clean-up, user access, and posting discipline in the finance applications you already run. We are not a named ERP vendor shop; we make the books in your tools auditable.

How we run the engagement

A predictable close reduces last-minute adjustments and gives tax and audit a file they can start from.

01

Map the books

We understand your entity, chart of accounts, bank accounts, and who may approve journals. Independence versus any future audit is confirmed before we post.

02

Process & reconcile

We post from source documents, reconcile banks and key controls, and keep a trail that URA filings and donor reports can share with the statutory ledger.

03

Close & report

We run the month-end or year-end close, produce management accounts, and flag judgements that need management sign-off before numbers leave the room.

04

Handover & review

You receive a complete pack and access protocol. If Kisaka & Company is later considered for audit, we revisit independence rather than assume the bookkeeping can continue unchanged.
